Planting cover crops is an important process in regenerative farming. This is our garden #3, which we planted in a mixed cover crop last fall to overwinter. (Hint- it’s plain old “5 way deer plot ” seeds from any local feed store). It helps to fix nitrogen into the soil, which reduces the need for our organic fertilizer later. It also helps keep the weeds down, and is a great bee attractant once the clover starts blooming.

This will be cut and incorporated into the soil in a few weeks, once we need to open up this garden for more growing space as the summer progresses.
