Comments Off on Fall chores time! Repairing the drip tape on the 5 row of asparagus, getting ready to throw about 6 inches of peanut shell mulch on top. I guess the mice wanted water during the drought, too – they’ve been chewing holes everywhere!
Comments Off on Love seeing these guys out in the morning, doing all the chicken things. Compare our pasture raised egg layers with commercial warehouse “never see the sun or dirt” layers. Our eggs are so much better tasting! You’ll never go back!
Comments Off on Just installed our first silage tarp in garden 3. It’s a sustainable, non-chemical way to kill existing weeds and pests. In a couple of weeks we’ll roll it back, lightly till the ground to raise up buried weed seeds, then recover. In a month or so we’ll have a nice stale seedbed ready for a cover crop for winter.
