Loading up one of the aquaponics beds with basil, cilantro and celery. What’s aquaponics? It’s hydroponics (growing plants in water), but instead of adding liquid plant nutrients, the water runs through another tank that contains fish. It’s a symbiotic sustainable relationship. The fish output provides the nutrients the plants need, and the plants clean the water for the fish. Works great!

It’s the first of the monthly on-site farmers markets from @marketatdothan today here at @dothan.nurseries. It’s still very early in the growing season, but we’ve brought fresh green garlic, cabbages, pasture raised eggs, our collection of gourmet cooking salts, and our yummy jams. Stop by and say hi, and ask is about our pasture raised chickens. There’s no comparison to store bought chicken!
