At last week’s farmer’s market, I had a lot of people asking how to cut up a patty pan squash. Here’s how I do it. đ The thickness of the slices depends on how you want to cook it. Half inch slices, oiled and seasoned with salt/pepper, then baked in the oven are great. (A little parmesan sprinkled on top is even better.) …OR… Small cubes pan fried in butter or bacon grease are awesome! Don’t be scared to try these beauties the next time you see them. Remember, it’s just another tasty summer squash! Check out our website at www.avalonfarms.us for where to get them. â #sustainablemarketfarmingâ
Time to move the pasture raised chickens to fresh pasture! If you’ve ever had to move @premier1supplies electric fence netting, you know it can turn into a tangled mess if you’re not careful. A garden cart and a little creative tinkering with PVC can make an aggravating job a breeze. Two sections (330 feet) of fence fit on a cart, and can be easily moved right where you need it.
