Comments Off on Loading up one of the aquaponics beds with basil, cilantro and celery. What’s aquaponics? It’s hydroponics (growing plants in water), but instead of adding liquid plant nutrients, the water runs through another tank that contains fish. It’s a symbiotic sustainable relationship. The fish output provides the nutrients the plants need, and the plants clean the water for the fish. Works great!
Comments Off on It’s that time again! Our pasture raised whole chickens are available again. Our chickens get fresh air, sunshine and fresh pasture grass everyday, supplemented with non-soy, non-GMO feed. You can taste the difference! You can get them on farm (www.avalonfarms.us), or through marketatdothan.com. We deliver to Dothan, Enterprise and Daleville/Fort Rucker.
Comments Off on Feeding time! I love watching them waddle/run. Then they stand there and make noise at me, something along the lines of “Hey, you! Throw that food! Now!” 🤣 For info on how to get our non-GMO/non-soy pasture raised fresh eggs, check out our website at www.avalonfarms.us
Comments Off on It’s the first of the monthly on-site farmers markets from @marketatdothan today here at @dothan.nurseries. It’s still very early in the growing season, but we’ve brought fresh green garlic, cabbages, pasture raised eggs, our collection of gourmet cooking salts, and our yummy jams. Stop by and say hi, and ask is about our pasture raised chickens. There’s no comparison to store bought chicken!
Comments Off on So what did we get at the equipment auction yesterday? You’re looking at the beginnings of two new pastured poultry eggmobiles (trailers), two new raised beds for spinach & greens (cattle feed troughs) and a rake attachment that I’m sure we’ll find something to do with. 🤣 Not shown are racks for onion & garlic drying, chicken crates and other small handy items. We love auctions, almost as much as we love repurposing things to work on the farm. Talk about sustainable!
